How Ear Wax Removal Works | Clear Ears Wales

HOW IT WORKS?

Booking Ear Wax Removal with Clean Ears Wales is Simple!

STEP 1 - BOOK ONLINE

Choose a date and time that suits you, including weekend (Yes Sundays!) and evenings. You'll recieve an email confirmation with a link to complete your health questionaire and consent form before your appointment.

STEP 2 - PREPARE YOUR EARS

Use Olive Oil Drops for twice a day for 3-5 days before your appointment if you have time. This softens the wax and makes the treatment quicker and more comfortable, whichever method is used. Not manged to? No need to cancel. We can still treat you effectively.

STEP 3 - WE ARRIVE AT YOUR HOME

Your practitioner arrives at your home, with everything they need including a microsuction machine and an irrigation kit.

STEP 4 - EAR EXAMINATION

Before the Treatment begins we examine both ear canals with an otoscope, and if you like we can use a camera to show you your ear canals on screen. This allows us to assess the wax and identify any factors that affect which method is most appropriate

STEP 5 - METHOD SELECTION

Based on the examination and your health questionnaire, your practitioner explains which method they're going to use and why. You will have the opportunity to ask questions before treatment begins. In most cases the decision is between microsuction and irrigation. Ocasionally we may use a mix of both, and manual removal.

STEP 6 - TREATMENT

We work carefully and check in with you throughout. Most patients find both treatments comfortable. Most appointments take less that 30 minutes.

STEP 7 - POST TREATMENT CHECK & ADVICE

After treatment we carry out a second otoscopy so you can see the results. We provide aftercare advice and answer any questions. Most patients notice an immediate improvement in hearing.

STEP 8 - FOLLOW UP IF NEEDED

One appointment is usually all that is needed. If ear wax is heavily impacted or conditions are not right to treat safely on the day, we may recommend olive oil drops and a follow up. We never rush or proceed if it's not appropriate.
