Microsuction & Irrigation Ear Wax Removal | Clear Ears Wales

EAR WAX REMOVAL: OUR SERVICES

We offer professional ear wax removal at home across Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and South Wales. Trained in both microsuction and irrigation, as well as manual removal, we choose the most appropriate method for each patient based on a full clinical assesment.

MICROSUCTION

Microsucction uses a small, low pressure suction probe to gently draw wax from the ear canal, while your practitioner looks directly into the ear through magnifying loupes. No water is used making it suitable for a wider range of patients and considered by many audiologists as the gold-standard method.

Microsucction is typically used when:

  • The patient has a history of perforated eardrum, ear surgery or grommets
  • The wax is hard, dry or firmly lodged
  • The patient has not had time to use olive oil drops before hand
  • It is the most clinically appropriate option after examination.

IRRIGATION

Irrigation uses a caerfully controlled flow of warm water to soften and flush wax from the ear canal. We use modern irrigation equipement, not old fashioned metal syringes, giving us precise control over pressure and temperature.

Irrigation is typically used when:

  • The wax is soft, or has been well softened with olive oil
  • The ear canal shape makes it more effective approach
  • There are no contraindications and clinical assesment indicates it is suitable,
